In 2021, I was assigned to redesign and teach the Ethics course for the Office of the Undergraduate Studies at Air Link International Aviation College. Previously offered face-to-face, the course needed to be adapted for fully online delivery. As is common in the Philippines, instructors also take on the role of instructional designer—so I had full ownership of the course transformation.
I started by reviewing the client’s teaching manual and existing materials to see what could be updated, reused, or replaced. I also collaborated with co-instructors to ensure the content would be accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with current academic and institutional standards. We conducted thorough content reviews and mapped out the essential topics and strategies needed to meet the course outcomes and general education goals.
With direction in place, I crafted the course syllabus and, once approved, built the course prototype in Google Classroom. Lessons were created using Google Docs and Slides, each paired with knowledge checks, formative activities, and summative assessments—all carefully aligned with feedback from subject matter experts and client expectations.
To enhance the learning experience, I incorporated visual design elements using Canva and implemented a clean, accessible layout suitable for low-bandwidth environments. Once finalized, I migrated all content to Canvas LMS for deployment.
The course was later updated in 2022 and again in 2024 to support the school’s shift to hybrid learning. Revisions included refreshed examples, updated references, curriculum alignment, and layout adjustments to meet evolving accreditation standards.
